OZONE has risen to the top of the international competition scene with the BBHPP and the R10 competition wings, which have featured revolutionary steps in sail design and profile efficiency. Now, the M4 is available to pilots who want competition wing performance from their serial class wing.
Although our mission with the M4 was to maximize performance in the EN D class we have not lost sight of True Performance. We have kept the comfort and stability of the M3 while gaining 0.8 points in glide performance through recent technological advances. This means that while the M4’s performance is truly revolutionary in the serial class, fun and agile handling and good passive safety in the EN D class remain absolute priorities for us here at OZONE. The Mantra series has created a legacy of EN D wings that not only perform well, but are fun to fly and relatively easy to use. We did not want to make a de-tuned competition wing that was uncomfortable or demanding; we wanted a wing that was a pleasure to fly and one that could be flown to its full potential, even in the most demanding conditions.
The M4 was developed from the very same design concepts that have made the Mantra R10 the most successful competition wing in recent history, combined with the elements of the M3’s handling and agility that have made it a favorite amongst pilots in the EN D class. Sail tension and tab positioning were both critical aspects in the design evolution. Many prototypes were needed to find the ultimate balance in these parameters of the design, and the result is a wing that gives smooth and comfortable feedback with exceptional handling. Information about the thermal that is transmitted to the pilot can be easily exploited, and its ‘filtered’ nature means that the wing’s feedback is not tiring on long and turbulent flights.
The Mantra M4 can be flown in real conditions at every part of its speed range and feels solid and efficient even in turbulent air. True Performance means performance in real conditions, and a speed range that can be used to its full potential when you need it most.
ASPECT RATIO AND HIGH PERFORMANCE
As with our other performance wings, we have focused on maintaining a moderate Aspect Ratio in order to keep the best characteristics of a wing in a lower class. The M4 may glide at the top of the EN D class, but its handling and agility are surprisingly excellent for a wing of such performance. This is thanks in large part to a moderate aspect ratio. The easiest way to increase a wing’s performance is to increase its aspect ratio, but we have not done that. Instead, we have focused on reducing parasitic drag and overall drag by optimising the profile and line diameters. The M4 also features the most efficient profile and the most highly tuned panelling techniques ever used in the serial class. These design parameters set it apart from its competition and push it to the top of the gaggle, without making any sacrifices in safety or comfort.
The Mantra M4 is suitable for experienced, competent pilots who fly 100+ hours per year and have a good understanding of SIV with higher aspect ratio wings. It is designed for the most discerning pilots who need True Performance for XC/Competition flights with the comfort and reassurance of EN D certification.
M4 TRIMMER RISERS
For highly experienced XC and Competition pilots, we offer “Race Risers” for the Mantra M4. They must be purchased separately from your wing. IMPORTANT: installing these risers will invalidate your wing’s certification. You do so at your own risk.
- The trimmers can be used to slow down the wing (2cm of range) in order to improve the climb / sink rate when needed.
- The trimmers can be used to speed up the wing (6cm of range) when you don’t want to use the speed bar, for comfort on longer glides.
- The accelerator system range is increased, and is modified for a more efficient influence on the wingtip in order to achieve higher top speed and more sail homogeneity.
- You can use the trimmers and accelerator in any combination you please.
- Installing these special risers totally invalidates the certification!

Ozone te anima a que personalices tu vela eligiendo tu propia combinación de colores. La personalización supone un pequeño coste adicional. Una vez hayas decidido tus colores, puede compartir tu diseño con tus amigos, o si ya estás listo para hacer tu pedido, enviárselo a tu distribuidor local de Ozone para que te informe del importe adicional y encargar la vela.
Por favor, ten en cuenta que como esa vela se fabricará exclusivamente para ti en la fábrica de Ozone, el pago debe recibirse antes de que comience a fabricarse.
COLORES DEL TEJIDO Y RESISTENCIA A LOS RAYOS UV
Por favor, ten en cuenta que el color que veas en tu pantalla puede que no represente con precisión el color real del tejido. Dada la amplia variedad en la calibración de las pantallas y el aspecto del tejido bajo diferentes condiciones de luz y combinaciones de colores, resulta imposible representar perfectamente el color del tejido en la pantalla. Todo el tejido que usamos pasa por un exhaustivo proceso de pruebas durante los prototipos, para asegurarnos de que el color se mantiene, de la estabilidad mecánica, la porosidad y la longevidad general, antes de poner ese tejido en producción. Una vez que nuestro tejido está en producción, cada metro del mismo se inspecciona rigurosamente al llegar a nuestra fábrica, y un tejido que no pase nuestros estrictos controles de calidad, se devuelve al fabricante. Con frecuencia nos preguntan qué colores son los que más duran o tienen mayor resistencia a los rayos UV. Todos los colores que empleamos poseen un valor de entre 4 y 5 en una escala que va del 1 al 5, siendo el 5 el valor más alto posible en cuanto a longevidad.

The Ultimate XC / Serial Competition Wing, Certified.
We cooked the M4 using the revolutionary recipe for the R10, but added some spice and a deliciously satisfying amount of comfort and agility in order to make a better M3: an M3 with more performance.
The M4 is a very close evolution of the M3, which has been updated by applying the latest in comp wing technology. Even if the difference is small on paper, the step forward in real performance is big.
The AR of the M4 is the same as the M3. We didn’t want to compromise the sail homogeneity, and its overall feel of comfort and accessibility in the category.
The internal structure and the rigging remain the same. It’s the perfect balance between optimisation of lines, the weight of the canopy, and the overall tension achieved for this aspect ratio.
A more efficient overall design has allowed us to increase the wing loading in order to achieve an even more cohesive feel, better precision in the turn, and more speed. Needless to say, the climb rate will remain exceptionally good, just like the M3.
The complex recipe of revolutionary new features from the R10 has been applied to the M4. Although we unfortunately can’t even tell you all of the details, everything that can be done has been done to make the wing more efficient and more drag-free while staying well within the boundaries of the EN D class.
The trailing edge remains similar to the M3 with miniribs. This helps to reduce drag by improving airflow at the TE. Also, shrink tab attachments form a clean ‘flap’ at the trailing edge.
The leading edge has been constructed in the same manner as the Delta. We replaced the mylar with nylon rods, which helps to save weight and ensures high longevity and profile form retention at this crucial area of the wing.
The line geometry and material have been optimised for a 10% drag reduction from the M3.
The risers remain the same with 12mm Cousin webbing, and feature super smooth top of the line Ronstan pulleys for easy speed bar use.
Line construction has been improved. Internally reinforced line loops strengthen the most highly stressed line junctions. Bottom loops of all riser lines are now protected in a sheath, for increased strength and durability.
The M4 is constructed from the same materials as the Delta, which has created a reduction in weight of 200g.
We have added an extra size in the range, the MS. This will reduce the gap between the optimal weights of each size. We have also extended the max weight of the L by 3kg, to 120kg total.
Diagonal ribs have been redesigned in order to provide better support to the line arrangement, especially at the Leading Edge.
