Mitch Riley gewinnt Monarca 2019

Unsere Ozone Piloten haben sich bei den 15ten Paragliding Open in Valle de Bravo, Mexiko, das Siegerpodest gesichert.

Der Gewinner der Gesamtwertung, Mitch Riley, berichtet uns:

“Valle De Bravo, Mexico delivered again for the 15th Monarca Paragliding Open. Through the week we flew a wide range of tasks and conditions. Yesterday, the last day of the comp, I was siting in first place by just 30 points trying to calm my nerves, drop the pressure of performing and just have fun. It worked beautifully during the 92km tour of the Valle flying arena. The first hour of racing was quite fast, with the lead gaggle making quick work of strong climbs and boaty glides. On the way to the Monarca’s the day got shady, and it became all about feeling out any weak lift that was available and optimizing climbs and glides. Pilots searching for glory on the last day were cutting the corner of the convergence and getting desperate. I backtracked to the convergence, took every bit of height I could find, and went for the long glide toward ESS. It worked! Switching to slow mode late in the day brought me into goal first for the day, and secured the competition win. Congrats to Harald Wilhelmi (2nd, Enzo 3), Matthew Beechinor (3rd, Zeno), Bianca Heinrich (1st Women, Zeno), and Gunnar Saebu (1st Sports Class). Alas De Hombre and Nicki Moss did a fantastic job of navigating an evolving political situation and keeping vans filled with fuel during the fuel crisis”

Wir gratulieren – besonders unserem deutschen Piloten Harald Wilhelmi – zu diesen überragenden Ergebnissen, und schicken ein dickes Cheers vom gesamten OZONE Team.

THE ENDLESS CHAIN

Unsupported. Unspoiled. Untouched….

Marcella berichtet uns dazu:

“This year was very intense for me. My main goals/dreams of the 2018 season were to beat the Female World Record of distance and to become Female Brazilian Champion. I worked really hard and was lucky enough to achieve both goals. With a big plus because I beat three Female World Records and also got in the Brazilian National Competition the best result of a woman in the history of Brazilian paragliding! Although, it was not easy to get here. As it was my first year flying a CCC wing I had to prepare myself to be ready to face the big air conditions of Brazilian northeast. So, I engaged to every competition possible and flew the most I could. Also, I did a SIV course (with Brazilian League support) on Enzo3 S to help me to know the wing and get confident about my skills. Furthermore, I participated in three PWCs this season (Baixo Guandu, Bulgaria and Turkey) and even though I got frustrated for not conquering the results I expected, they were extremely important to make me grow as a competition pilot. Because the frustrations became steps to my evolution. Learning how to overcome these frustrations, learning much more about my equipment and trimming, learning with the best pilots of the world about strategies in different types os tasks, learning to fly faster. Therefore, I learned so much in this season and in the end all this helped me to achieve my main goals. So, I finish the 2018 season with the feeling of mission accomplished and believing that dreams come true. Can’t wait for the next season and trying to become a better pilot each day!!”

Auf den Rängen zwei und drei landeten die Kolumbianer Cristian Agudelo (Enzo 3) und Jullian Carreño (Enzo 2).

SWIFT 5 NOW AVAILABLE

Based on the Rush 5 but 30% lighter, the Swift 5 is a top of class Lightweight Sport-Performance-Intermediate wing developed with the same technology used in our performance wings including the Enzo 3 and Zeno, in addition to several new innovative features.

Over fifteen years of lightweight R&D have allowed us to deliver a wing that is not only top of class in terms of performance, but also one of the lightest wings in its class. Thanks to a lighter sail, the Swift 5’s agility and handling is improved over the Rush 5, with a more precise feel. Another key difference is the ease of inflation and take-off behavior in general.

An extensive period of performance glide testing allowed us to evaluate the Rush 5 and Swift 5 against class-leading wings from other manufacturers. The results have proven significant gains, especially in accelerated glide performance.

The SWIFT 5 is ready to order from your local OZONE distributor.

Marcella berichtet uns:

“The flying conditions of my record flight was very difficult. Turbulent, blue and very challenging. I was the last one to be towed, so I flew the first kms by myself, then I was able to connect with Frank Brown and Marcelo Prieto and later on we connected with Samuel Nascimento and Rafael Saladini. It was very very turbulent, it was not easy to fly the Enzo S in those conditions, so I was able to eat something only after 2pm. I think I did not fly very well, I always climb well, but that day I could not do it very well. Only between 10-12pm we had clouds. After Quixeramobim, turned blue again and the whole flight there was a thermal inversion making it more turbulent. We had several low saves. And when I thought it was getting weaker (I was even thinking of releasing the ballast) we took a 8m/s thermal in the lee side that we climbed out as we were papers. Although, the end of the flight was extremely difficult, very weak, blue and we were stopping at any bubbles we found along the way. It was very difficult to maintain concentration after beating the women’s world declared goal record at km 377. But I swallowed the celebration and concentrated on my main dream. I was 10km to record, 1000m above the ground. Theoretically, I already knew it was going to happen, but there were so many “almost”, that I only believed when I saw the 403 appear on the GPS screen, that moment I cried out of happiness, unique feeling in my whole life, never felt such big emotion like that. But until then, I did not even breathe so I did not miss any gliding haha. And I still glided 7km more, totaling 410.72km. Taking off in Assu in Rio Grande do Norte, cruising the whole “sertão” and landing near Tamboril in Ceará. It was 9h48 of flying. What a flight! If it were easy it would not be a record, and being on a bad and difficult day gave an even better taste. As I said last year, there is no greater connection to nature than flying the whole day. Without engine, without anything, only you, your paraglider and the wind. Taking off with the sun on your back and ending the flight with a final glide towards the best sunset in the world, in the best place. There is no better feeling in the world. That is where you are sure that all the suffering is worth it. And with the thrill of having beaten three world records. For sure, it was the best day of my life! Dream of a lifetime”.

Marcella ist mit ihrem Enzo 3 geflogen.

Ihren Tracklog findest du hier.

Wir gratulieren Marcella zu diesem epischen Flug!

Ein Cheers vom gesamten OZONE Team.
