St. Hilaire Roundup

September 23, 2015

At this year’s Coupe Icare, we announced the imminent release of a few fun products. A brief summary of each is below. Exact dates for these wings is unknown, but we do expect production to begin well before the end of the year. The Forza is now available to order from your local Ozone dealer.

Buzz Z5 – Beginner-Intermediate
– Significant increase in trim and accelerated speed L/D over Z4
– Ball Bearing pulleys for smooth acceleration
– Same legendary Buzz series ease, comfort, and compact feel

The Buzz Z5, like its predecessor, is suitable for a wide range of pilots from talented beginners to the more experienced. It is an ideal choice for pilots who fly, or intend to fly approximately 30-50 hours per year, or for experienced pilots who are searching for a wing with high levels of passive safety and comfort in the Intermediate Class.

With an increased number of cells, totally new shark nose profile and double 3D shaping the Buzz Z5 is aerodynamically very clean. Aspect ratio remains the same – we do not believe in pushing this important design consideration – but the reduced sail drag, optimized line layout, reduction in overall line length, and newly-shaped shark nose cell openings push the Z5’s performance to the top of the category without compromising safety. The balance of performance and safety is an important consideration for any pilot and we believe the Z5 achieves this balance with the solidity and glide performance necessary for long XC flights in real conditions.

JOMO – Lightweight Beginner-Intermediate
The Jomo is a lightweight high performance beginner intermediate wing designed for a wide range of hike & fly pilots. First and foremost it is a safe, fun, and easy high-performance wing ideal for the newly qualified, intermediate XC pilots and experienced alike. Reliable and dependable, it is perfect for pilots who require a safe and solid lightweight wing for ridge soaring, thermalling, XC flying and beyond.

Certified EN A and based on the Mojo5, the Jomo significantly reduces both weight and packing volume.

These advantages give the Jomo the edge on the ground making it easier, lighter and smaller to carry with improved launching characteristics and easier inflation and ground handling than its heavier cousin. Launching the JOMO in the mountains is less stressful, easier, and safer, thanks to its lightweight design. Setting up is easy; the risers are simple and uncluttered. The wing inflates smoothly – without overshooting or hanging back – even in zero wind conditions. In stronger winds it inflates progressively with less tendency to “shoot up” and pull the pilot off their feet.

In the air, the lower weight reduces the inertia making the wing more pitch stable and lighter to control. With an optimised number of cells and profile, the Jomo is aerodynamically very clean. The reduced sail drag, optimised line layout, reduction in overall line length, and newly-shaped cell openings push performance to the top of the category without compromising safety.
