Charles and Russ win the 2009 Paragliding World Cup!!!
After the 12 day Superfinal Event in Poggio Bustone, Italy, Charles Cazaux took overall 1st place and Russ Ogden took 2nd. Charles and Russ were both flying the new BBHPP, which we have written about in recent news pieces.
Charles is now the 2009 PWC Champion, and Russ is the 2009 PWC Vice Champion.
Russ said about flying the BBHPP during the PWC Superfinal:”The Baby HPP was perfect for the conditions in Poggio… although other pilots complained of strong conditions and turbulence I found it to be smooth and clean, the wing was really comfortable… Yes it is true that it is a very demanding wing to fly, but you do not have to push it so hard to reap the benefits. It killed all opposition in its wake, most other wings were not even close and the longer the glides the more we saw the difference. In strong racing conditions it also proved its worth… I could push harder and faster than the other wings and I had no collapses during the comp.”Needless to say, we are overjoyed to have taken the 1st and 2nd place in the 2009 Overall World Cup results, and extremely proud of Charles and Russ both! This is an amazing beginning to a project that the Ozone Test and Design Team have been working on for several years now.
We will post more detailed news about the BBHPP’s future, and what these new developments mean to Ozone pilots everywhere. But first and foremost, congratulations to Russ and Charles for a season of incredible flying! Thanks so much you two, and cheers from all the Team!
