Snowkitemasters - 10.-17. Jan 09 Col du Lautaret

As with the years following the first Ozone Snowkite Masters in 2004, still remembered as one of the most successful snowkite events, yet again Regis and Wareck have worked their butts off for the SKM 09 to ensure this legendary gathering will be bigger and more professional than ever.  After the OSKM 04 we passed control of the event format to Regis and Wareck and they have continued to do more than just a simple repeat job for us.

For the 2008 www.Ozonesnowkitemasters.com two new styles of competition were introduced that proved a great hit with riders, visitors and media: the Best Line and the Backcountry Race.  We are stoked to announce Rigs and Wareck have responded by making these competitions a permanent feature of the 2009 SKM showing the true potential of snowkiting as your backcountry tool and personal ski lift.  Make sure to check out the website and visit this event – we guarantee it’s going to be worth every effort.

The snow is coming… and so some news from the SKM

WELCOME TO THE SERRE CHEVALIER SNOW KITE MASTERS 2009 & FRENCH SNOWKITE FREESTYLE CHAMPIONSHIP
Col du LAUTARET 2058m (Hautes-Alpes, France) 10/16 JANUARY 2009
The SKM event was created to promote this spectacular discipline – SNOWKITING.
Athletics and aesthetics combined with wind and riding set in a fantastic environment.  An event not to be missed it integrates the season of winter and the snowkite in a spectacular way.

The event is led by Guillaume Chastagnol, Triple Snowkite World champion and master of increasingly more daring tricks. The SKM is the occasion for riders, media and kite world to meet at one of the most universally known locations.

FRENCH SNOWKITE FREESTYLE OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP
We would like to thank US and British riders for trusting us and with so many early registrations  we look forward to seeing you here…
The Snow Kite Masters mixes the French open snowkite freestyle championship and a huge meeting of world riders: Girls, boys, famous or otherwise, beginners, pros, spectators and media…
As in the past the best riders from all over the world (ski and snowboard) will compete against the top French riders (winners of the French championship ski and snowboard) for the titles of “The Snow Kite Masters”.

BEST LINE
This is all about backcountry style. Climb a mountain with a kite, pack the kite up when you reach the top and pull the best line back down with the kite in your rucksack. Time, difficulty, altitude and the ride down will be judged.

SKM is an ideal opportunity to share knowledge during an innovative and unique event.

COL DU “LAUTARET PASS ANIMATIONS”
During the event there will be a free initiation to snowkiting with
SNOWKITEAIR Remi and Johann, at the SKM Village Col du Lautaret 2058m.
