Epic NZ Spring Snowkiting Conditions
This news piece has not yet been translated but will be soon, thank you for your patience. Hey guys
Well Spring is in full swing here in New Zealand now. Its always a hard call to leave the warming waters of Raglan for a snowkite on the central north Island mountains, but always well worth the mission. This year we still have a 5m snow base so its looking like a super long spring skiing season. Spring is when consistant snowkiting really comes to its own on the North Island, with bluebird days and the smooth South Wester’s kicking back in.
Local Ozone distributer Chris Gebbie (New Zealand’s fastest man on ski’s) has been loving the 09 Frenzy FYX getting towed up the slope with the 13m power house in as little of 4 to 5 knots. We only had about 8 knots this day but this was ample to see both Chris and I well powered on the 9 and 11m FYX’s. Its amazing how accomodating the ski fields have been with snowkiting in New Zealand, with most ski patrollers just letting us know to keep 200m away from the lifts.
However we usually still try to stay mostly out of bounds as that’s where the untouched powder pockets and wind lips tend to be Hope everyone else is loving the 09 Snowkites as much as we are…
Cheers Hugh
