Hi everyone,

Oli Palmers together with Morten and friends are currently in Chile to capture new footage for the upcoming snowkitefilm DVD. Oli is riding the new 09 snowkite range already which will be released officially in September. Read on for Mortens report:

>>We’ve flown down to Chile for two weeks of summer snowkiting. The crew consists of Morten Gjerstad, Oliver Palmers, Kevin Steen, Remi Meum and Bjoern Kaupang. Our mission is to capture some epic footage for snowkitefilm.com’s new DVD “Dimensions” as well as shoot the 09 Ozone foil kites in action.

The first stop on our trip is Valle Nevado just east of the capital city, Santiago. It’s a huge ski resort that’s located 4000m above sea level and has an insane view of the surrounding mountains and the city itself.

We had some concerns about altitude sickness, but so far so good. The key is to stay hydrated! The weather hasn’t been on our side. Apart from a few sunny patches the sky has been predominantly grey. The wind conditions have been extremely gusty. There’s some epic terrain here, but we’ve deemed it unrideable due to the gusty wind. The forecast for the next couple of days is good for an area six hours further south so tomorrow we’ll head down there and hopefully score some good conditions.

We found a standing wave in a shopping mall today and had a go at surfing it even though the temperature is around 12C. We got washed in the tube at first, but quickly got the hang of it. Props to Oliver for the day’s best crash when he suddenly turned 180 degrees and surfed head first into the tube! The wave was great fun and we’ll probably hit it up again before we leave. <<

Cheers 4 now - Morten Gjerstad www.snowkitefilm.com
