Marek Zac (Ozone) is the new King of Giau 2011! The strong athlete from the Czech Republic triumphed in the 4th edition of the Cortina Snowkite Contest which ended on Sunday, March 20th Giau.
It was a battle for the crown between Marek and Simone Borgi (Ozone, Italy), who had lost his last chance to win the title in the long-race final which was won by Marek.
Italian colors were also well represented by Simone Borgi (1st Short Race and Best K-loop) and Michele Leoni (2nd Big Air, Freestyle 4th) and Manuel Tone (4th Big-Air)
5 nations were represented: Italy, Czech Republic, Germany, Austria & England.
For lovers of BMX stunts, there was an exciting spectacle under the bell tower in Cortina d’Ampezzo with music, and on stage the submission of all athletes with the delivery of chest race number took place.
Despite the Giau being closed 2 days a week for a 4 avalanche danger, the public have been numerous and wide-eyed noting these samples “fly” on the slopes of the pass.
