Pittrak Expedition - Crossing Greenland Ice Cap 

The team is setting out to do this expedition not only for the challenge, but to inspire youth around the globe to accomplish their goals.

Thru our website, which will be updated from the Ice Cap, youth will be able to follow the expedition. The teams aim is to share their experience and the beauty of Greenland thru the website, emphasizing how important it is to preserve such a pristine environment that is being readily effected thru climate change.

Why?

On every expedition, the same question always comes up: “why do you set out on expeditions”?

From all my past expeditions, Greenland is by far one of my favorite destinations. Covered by an immense cover of blanket, it’s a kiter’s paradise. Every direction you look, a snowy surface stretched out to the horizont. Being able to start late in the season allows for comfortable spring travel conditions. And not to mention the 24 hours of light, what is there not to like?

Having crossed Greenland (East-West) three times already, at the end of each trip leaving is the hardest part. I’ve gazed over maps for the last year looking at the possibility of doing a south-north crossing. It was at the end of the summer that my brother called me and told me “Sarah, we’re crossing the Greenland ice cap in May”. And that was that. Away with the planning!!
