Day 2 - Arrival in Longyearbyen
We have arrived in Longyearbyen after a great and rather unexpectedly eventful flight here. SAS were wonderfully generous and accommodating about our extremely excess baggage; thank you very much! We had a short stop off in Tromso, which proved harder to reach than anticipated. Finding ourselves in the middle of a huge white out, we made one aborted attempt at landing and then settled for circling for an hour whilst the weather cleared sufficiently for us to land in a slightly more relaxing manner.

It is a stunning day here in Longyearbyen, perfectly clear sky, -14°C, though disturbingly no wind. We’re confident this is something that will change. We are going to settle into our guesthouse tonight, enjoy the last fresh food we will be eating for some time and get set for tomorrow morning - 2 hours of all important bear traning, where we will be getting the local know how on dodging any curious and hungry bears that might have designs on us as a handy snack!
