Pakistan Kite & Fly team arrived in Skardu Monday 13.3.06

Dominik Zimmerman from Germany (Ozone manager, Germany) reports from Pakistan at the start of what will be one hell of an adventure:

“Hey Folks some exciting news:

After a more than 24 hour trip departed in Paris we made it up to Skardu the last town before getting to base camp. Everything was more than perfect organized. We got treated like stars, got people waiting for us on every airport to get us trough the controls as fast as possible. We were all tired from the long flights and the last on from Islamabad to Skardu was super close to cancel because of the weather conditions. Skardu is in a valley in the Himalya and the weather in the mountains can change very quick!!! Anyway they fliew us up and we arrived on the moon we thought!!! The valley is still winter so no green anywhere but beautiful so we hang on the little plane windows to capture what was waiting for us while the pilot made an extra round obove the city. It was pretty warm so a tshirt was all we needed today. We got booked in a amasing hotel for this night where we got tea and a lunch buffet de luxe compare to the plane foot we only got the last hours.

We just could take our hand luggage and the other big parts went by a truck from Islamabad to Skardu hopefully arrive tomorrow so we will go up the base camp.

After lunch we went for a little trek to a fort not far from the hotel but took us through the town and we saw how people live here. Its just amazing these people. They sleep in huts and live more on the street but they are super friendly and interesting to our expedition. We are all stoked to be here its such a interesting, wonderful country, we are all looking forward to the days in the snow to snowkite, snowboard, ski, discover, party ect.

Last news for first, keep checking the webpage for further news as soon as we are back from the basecamp.

A super exited Dom from Skardu

USA snowkiter Ken Lucas reports:

“I have been here just one day and I am blown away. This place is amazing. Super nice people and the mountain scenery is the best in the world. There have been a few surreal moments so far. Serene prayer chants that echo in the majestic mountains set aglow by a full moon.
