Morten filming

The resort
Hi everyone….
Sigve reports from his recent trip with Morten filming for the new Snowkitefilm.com
“We decided to go to Folgefonna to get some more footage for the upcoming new snowkiting dvd with Morten Gjerstad from Snowkitefilm. We went on an ice glacier far west in Norway. It’s also a famous ski resort for the snowboarders and the skiers. So is quite busy there in summer time.
It was me, Bjorn Kaupang, Petter Johnsen and Morten Gjerstad. Our first day up there we had light wind but we got some nice cruising shoots. It’s so nice to cruise around with the Manta II. I went uphill with the Manta II and snowboarded back down. The snow was perfect;) Not so much kiting our first day but for sure a nice day. We went down to Jondal city for dinner. It’s such a small town – it’s nothing there just one restaurant and a supermarket and that’s it. The food was ok but Bjorn had some trouble with his stomach the day after… ha ha funny for us but not for him I think.
To make the trip cheap we decide to sleep in the car - one thing to remember – keep your windows open! The next morning I was happy I was still alive, no more oxygen in car and so bloody hot.
When we went up to the top again the wind was around 45 knots. It was sunny and blue sky but just too much wind. Too much to do kiting on the glacier. Well, then we have to wait again. We ended up with a beer and a little barbeque. We went early to bed to be ready for our last day. Let’s hope ours whether Gods are with us!
We were early awake this morning. It was our last day and we needed some good condition. We were lucky. It was about 35 knots when we went up there, I was out kiting with the Ozone Sport II 9m2. So much power, too much for the freestyle. After 2 hours the wind dropped down to 23 knots, perfect;) I think this was one of my best days the hole summer
Super nice power in the Sport II 9m2. God I love this kite;) We found a kicker and did some sick moves. Here is a small preview
Morten was happy and nothing is better then that. After 4 hours hard kiting we were so tiered that it was hard to do a backroll, anyway the wind went down and the clock was over six so it was at time to leave the glacier for this time. This is what we call a perfect day;) It is worth to do the trip and check this spot out. If you have no wind you can go skiing or snowboarding. You can also be in Jondal for a swim or be a tourist for a day. It is a typical Norwgian place with fjords and big mountains, so beautiful.
That’s what it all about - being out there! More cool stuff will follow over this summer - stay tuned!
Sigve
