Olli B full speed in the race

From February 8th thru the 10th of 2008, the big kite event KWC was held in Italy at Lake Resia. Ozone was there with Dom (German Distributor), Martin(Swiss Distributor) and the team riders Olli Palmers from Austria and Olli Büchi from Switzerland.

Here is a short report from Olli Palmers and Olli Büchi about the Event:

The KWC at the Reschensee in Italy was the second tour stop of the world championship. More than 300 riders from many different countries came there to test the latest 2008 kites and the best of them to join the contest. The weather conditions were just perfect for a good contest. Actually the level was pretty high and so it was a hard job to reach the finals. In the final there was another really good Austrian Rider, Hardy Brandstötter, with years of contest experience and I lost the heat against him ‘cause my trick diversity was just limited.

After the heat the wind dropped and the organisers let everybody know that the loser round would be at the next day. That evening there was a BIG party, and hell kiters can be real party animals! After such a party it was pretty hard to get up early and show up at the riders meeting…

I won all the heats in the loser round and was in the finals again. Actually I had the best heat of my life and damn it it was really close, but unfortunately he took me.

This was my first contest season and at the end I can’t believe that I got so far. So I’m really motivated and I will train my ass of and be back and show him…

Now Olli Büchi’s words about the race contest

The conditions were perfect, the snow was hard and very fast and the wind was blowing with 5-6 beauforts (in gusts there was over 8 bft’s). The race was really fast, over 100 km/h on the course from the top riders!

In every race, it was a hard fight between Markus Pompel and me… most of the time I was in first in the first round than later Markus overtook me in the last round. It was really hard for me. But I won one race and Saturday I was Day-Winner.

In total rank I ended in 2nd and Markus in 1st. Roger Knechtle in 3rd.
