James Brown

Hi everyone, 

On their annual pilgrimage to Alaska last March, Snowkiters found new playgrounds during a soul session at Thompson Pass near Valdez.  James Brown was captured mid-air by acclaimed photographer Andrew McGarry, as he went into ‘Space Monkey’ mode, exploring new frontiers farther from gravity.  His launch pad was a 50 foot high wind lip that was a wave frozen in time and shaped by ferocious valley winds.  Patagonia, the environmentally conscious clothing manufacturer, caught a glimpse of James Brown in Soul Town and published an amazing full page image of that moment, showcasing wind powered riding in one of the most extreme elements.
