Perfect blue sky today at the snowkitemasters here in Serre-Chevalier but…  Very light East wind. So, Matthias proposed a “Best Tricks session to start with, with the idea that we can change the format to “Double Elimination” if the wind gets stronger.

But, the wind stayed light and cool all the day long, so the “Best trick” session was the only task.
The spot here at the Lautaret Pass is wide and covered with fresh powder, so everybody could continue to snowkite all around the area.

At the beginning, the competitors had to go for their run when the micro called them. But as they were warming-up all over the mountains, there was a lot of time wasted since the guys were called but nobody arrived at the competition area and sö a lot of them waited for nothing. Wareck decided to change the format and proposed a thirty minute time-window when everybody could go big for the “Best Trick” session.

The problem, then, was too many kites in the race-area. Never mind, all the competitors showed their best freestyle skills, and it was a really impressive show. The Norvegian crew was the best of the day, Sigve Botnen won on snowboard and Bjorn Kaupang won on skis. Big up northern guys !!!

Now, it’s time for the party at the pub “Le Frog” in La Salle, part of the Serre-Chevalier ski-resort. A big big party as today is Xavier’s birthday. Xavier is the “very kind and great” boss of “Le Frog”. I start to be scared about how the night will end… Probably at the police station. Don’t worry, it’s only a joke.
Tomorrow, stronger East wind and blue sky forecasted. Another big day, for sure.
