:: Introduction
The Alps Maritimes is situated in the Southeast corner of France and borders with Italy. It is one of the most beautiful and spectacular flying regions in the world. This is where the Alps actually touch the Mediterranean Sea, creating an interesting weather phenomena and favourable flying conditions all year round.
There are many sites in the region, ranging from coastal soaring to one of Europe’s premier thermal sites, St Andre-les-Alpes. The region is ideal for all, there is a multitude of different activities to do if you need a rest or you are a non-flier: climbing, hiking, beaches, horse riding, museums and art galleries to name a few. Nice, Monte Carlo and Cannes are just a stone through away, so as you can imagine there is a large variety of restaurants serving cuisine from all over the world.
If you need a break then this is an ideal destination to get away from the grey skies and enjoy the sun and little flying at the same time, budget airlines such as Easyjet fly to Nice airport bringing this fantastic area easily within reach.
