I heard rumour of a freestyle event taking place in Holland so I chased it up a bit and found out some information about, but soon enough would find myself there thanks to Ozone sorting out the trip for me. Early Friday morning I was up and heading to the airport to get the first flight over to Holland, I was at the airport by 4am I was rushed through customs, had my baggage tagged and was all sorted ready for the plane journey, I sat in departures what seemed forever as I was there so early there was nothing to but listen to my iPod and drink Red bull, it was a quick flight over, taking only 30mins in the air, hoping leave all the rain and cold behind I landed in Holland, not to my surprise it was still wet but was clearing up, soon the sun was out and it was warming up.

I was picked up at the airport by Dom for the short drive to Ijmuiden beach. When we turned up we were the first there so we ended up in the local cafe overlooking the beach for breakfast, we finished breakfast and headed to the super market for provision for the weekend.

When we got back there were kiters and trade vans appearing every few minutes, Fellow Ozone rider Floyd turned up with the Trampa team and a few other fellow riders. Today consisted of us practising for the event the next day so we all got to know each other and we had a good session on the ramp which lasted on till the evening, both Floyd and I were using the ramp to our full advantage using Manta2’s and Frenzy FX’s as our weapons of choice, Watching Floyd on the ramp was making everyone dizzy, he was rotating all over the place with other tricks combined with even more rotations, you could see that Floyd was enjoying himself.

I was putting in kite loops and F16’s over the ramp, board off varials and other tricks in the wind which was getting stronger and stronger. Watching all the other rider the event looked like it was gonna be a good one. After everyone had finished kiting we all head back to our hotels and campsites to get changed and we all ended up in a restaurant drinking beer and having a good laugh.

We woke up the next day and headed back down to the beach to find there was a huge lack of wind, the event got underway with the seniors and the juniors going first. Watching them struggle in the low wind was getting us think about what we were gonna do. When it got time for our turn in the arena some of us were struggling to get moving and trying to get up the ramp was a challenge, everyone was trying their hardest and trying all their low wind tricks that they knew but even then there was not enough wind, at the end of the round we all came out laughing as we were all in the same situation thinking what were the judges gonna mark us on.

The judges decided to mark the event on the day before as well so it made it fair on everyone. We stood around waiting for the results to be read out, third place came Martin Constantine from the Trampa team, I came in second place and Floyd came in first with his motto spin to win. The event was hosted by forest7 and i would like to thank them for the great event from all of us who attended from the UK.
