IMP Trainers are hitting the highway

So a few days ago, one of the guys who came into the shop was chatting to me about various aspects of kiting, what the kites are for, and where they’re used etc…

When I started chatting about how my friend and I use our little Imp Trainers to ride secluded urban spots on long boards when this guy mentioned a new major bypass road that was being built locally. The ball rolls from here…

Later that day I picked up my friend, Jimbo, stuffed the kites and boards into the back of the bus and checked out this new spot. After being informed that this new road didn’t have any lamp-posts on it yet we were keen, but on arrival we spotted a large metal fence and lamp posts all over. Just another challenge eh!

It was a sweet ride in on the long boards after opening up the gates. Cars slowed as they passed on the near by road, and local dog-walkers in the field next to us gave an inquisitive smile as we launched the kites and ripped up the new to be highway. A nice chilled session was to follow for the next half hour or so, weaving the lights and sets of road cones, and avoiding dumping the kites into the big piles of wet mud and shards of construction waste.

Not a crazy session filled with big airs, loops, and slams… but a real nice easy going cruise down an unfinished piece of asphalt. It was far from hardcore, but to me, it reinforced why we kite. Just purely for the fun of it
