After a 9 hour drive followed by a 4hr ferry trip, the Ozone UK team arrived at the destination of their week long Summer Road trip. Tiree, a small island in the Hebrides, off the west coast of northern Scotland.

No more than 10 miles across, Tiree boasts the most consistent wind and sunshine stats for the whole of the British Isles. That combined with the crystal clear Turquoise water and a beach for every wind direction within a 15 minute drive, makes this island a Power kite Paradise.

Our Base was the super kite friendly Ceabhar Restaurant and B&B, owned and run by Duncan and Polly, a couple of diehard kiters following their dream, having moved out here permanently for the world class conditions.

The team enjoyed 5 out of 6 kiteable days, ripping up the hard packed sands of the awesome Gott Bay with their KGB’s and Buggies and tearing up the waves at a host of beautiful spots including Ballie Phetris, and ‘The Maze’, with the 07 Instinct range putting huge smiles on the faces of the entire team.

The wind was so good we had to change our Ferry booking on the morning of our departure so we could stay and kite an extra day.

If you get an opportunity to travel to Tiree, take it. Its one of those places you’ve jus gotta kite.

Watch out for more of the story in the kite mags,
