Hi everyone,
The Buggy races are just about to start in all parts of europe. Our Race Team trained hard during the winter to make sure they stay on top of the ranking lists. Also Jasper our Belgium Team Rider who won already their fist run in De Panne last weekend. Read on for his report…
“On saturday the normal race was planned, pilots gathered on the beach. The wind was blowing slightly offshore and the beach was hard with loads of water on it. With a race track of almost 8km and deep peaces of water, it was going to be a technical race. It was important to choose a good course to avoid getting stuk in the water. During the race the wind started to pick up, so we always had to take a smaller kite. Pretty fast it was clear that the yakuza was the superior kite on the upwind - downwind track.
First two heats I won with a large margin with the 7.3m and 6m yakuza. Last heat was a struggle, I was overpowered on the 5m yak, ending up in 2nd place but only 10m behind the first.
On Sunday it was the rally. A long distance race between De Panne and Dunckerque, a distance of 15km.
One lap was 30km and we had to drive 2 laps, we started one by one, the race is like a time trial, with a pilot starting every minute. With a gusty offshore wind that was slightly dropping and turning, choosing the right kite size was very important. I started as one of the last pilots with the 7.3 yak. I was soon picking up other pilots, after one lap I drove in 2nd position after one off the first who departed. Then the wind started to drop and it was very difficult to end. Finally I reached the finish and drove almost 2minutes faster then all the other pilots. I won the Krabrally weekend and got back in the running for the Belgian Championship:) ”
Congratulations from the hole Team at Ozone to that amazing result!
