Last year we set the standard of how to run a friendly and open format comp with the first event of the 04/05 snowkite season opened with the Ozone Snowkite Masters 14-18th Dec 2004. The OSKM www.ozonesnowkitemasters.com
was a monumental success. The riders and press attending were invited with all expenses paid to showcase our incredible sport. The media return was huuuge. There were daily prime time reports on Canal + , one of the biggest TV stations in France where 8 million + viewers were introduced to the sport by the programmes TV presenter. We managed to succeed in having mainstream magazines and newspapers publish articles on what snowkiting is all about plus the normal Kite magazines. Overall the end return was very impressive and the effects of our promotion can now be felt within the sport.
The event was a huge success with everyone involved reporting back that it was the best event they had ever been to, the snow was thin on the ground so it was a stressful start for us all, but in the end the powder Gods smiled on us, dumping 2m of snow for the final 3 days. The parties were full on and the camaraderie between all was very special with everyone staying with Tadpole Holidays and based from the best restaurant and pub in Serre Chevalier, the Frog run by Dee and Xavier.
This year we decided to open up the event for all kite brands as we felt along with the organizers Regis and Wareck Arnaud that to spread the snowkite message even further we needed to be open minded and to work together with other kite brands to hopefully get the sport even more media return. Ozone wishes to thank the brands that have joined us in backing the snowkite revolution and to continue the strong promotion of the sport we’ve been pushing for the past 5 years. Thanks to all the team at North Kites and Flysurfer that will join the SNOW KITE MASTERS (SKM) as partners for this 2nd edition.
The snow is already deep as I tap this news and the SKM team are ready to put on another great event, so jump in your car or fly to Turin, Italy (closest airport) and head to the World renowned Col Du Lauteret to witness the worlds top riders ripping at their best.
Chasta is just back from his summer training in Tahiti and is super amped to be back on the snow…..don’t miss his show!!!
Ozone’s co-designer and snowkite expert Tom Bourdeau will be riding everyday at the Col. Ozone Kites German manager and top snowkiter Dominik Zimmerman will also be availabe to help any kiters wishing to demo Ozone’s latest kites, the Frenzy06 and Access. Other Ozone riders in attendance will be Laurent Benamon, young ripper, Damien Pattou, Estelle Lambelet, Johanne Civel and our 1st Team Rider, Fabrice Tripier Mondancin is back after 2 years absence from the snowkite scene, don’t miss this snowkite legend getting crazy!!!
