Rob Whittall, co-founder of Ozone Paragliders and chief designer of Ozone Kites and Speed-Wings, recently starred in this short film about the beautiful PPG flying in New Zealand.

The footage is inspiring on many levels - the natural vistas of the NZ coast, the tranquil glides over green landscapes, and the convenience of taking off and landing from home without being at the mercy of thermals

Fly alongside Rob as he soars above New Zealand’s West Coast with his Paramotor, in search of a little soul satisfaction. White Cloud Productions NZ joined forces with Rob to capture stunning images of Raglan and the surrounding area…presenting Surreal Perspectives.

This years kitebuggy race season started during the easter holidays in st. peter ording. As the weather turned out to be just perfect with sunshine and wind for kites from 5.5 to 12 squaremeters we were able to drive five races.

For the first three races my weapon of choice was the Yakuza GT 5 and 6.8. One first and two second places showed that we have still one of the top racekites available.

The last two races I tried some new prototypes we are actually working on. Just for now all I can say is that already this first prototype in 12sqm was fast enough to help me up ending on a second place again. For the last race it looked like the wind will get up so I decided to test a new proto in 9.5sqm, unfortunately the wind doesn’t change and I had not enough power. That’s why I decided to test some different trim options during the race and were only able to become 12th. Never the less I could wipe out that last race and was able to win the first tourstop in 2012.

SPKA Round 6: 31st March - 1st April 2012

After the non-event of Round 5 due to the weather, the Scottish buggy racing crew were keen to get plenty of races in at Round 6. The added bonus of Stu McGougan (the current series leader) not attending the 1st day of Round 6 gave an extra incentive (no offence meant Stu!); the more races done on the 1st day, the more points Stu would get, so the further he might drop down the leader board.

Saturday dawned dry, but with light wind from variable directions. Luckily there was time to wait with low tide at 1pm, and eventually racing started in a gusty cross-on breeze. The unpredictability of the wind caused a few problems, including kites coming down across the start line, and a few OBEs (out of buggy experiences….) with Mike winning the big air competition for the day, luckily coming down unhurt. This also threw the competition wide open; giving riders on lower aspect kites some advantages over the less stable race kites. The Ozone Methods and Flows used by Mark, Dave and Todders in the 16” wheel class handled the conditions well, even keeping some performance once wet. The biggest surprises of the day were in the controversial 3rd race, during which the wind changed direction by 90o at one end of the course, and at times stopped completely. Mark did really well for his first go with a Yak, after changing up from the 5m Method to a 5m Yak he completed a further 2 laps and moved up from 8th to 3rd place. Maggie also had a good race, managing to stay out of trouble and keeping the 6m Yak just dry enough to win the race, beating the entire Scottish men’s fleet in the process.

On the Sunday morning the racers were back on the beach early, waiting for the tide to drop and drying out kites. The wind stayed gusty, cross-off shore this time, and the day started with a practice race for newcomers to the fleet. Again the turbulent wind made for tricky, unpredictable racing throughout the day. Luckily there were enough rivers and puddles on the beach to slow most pilots down and 2 more series races were completed, making Round 6 the best weekend of racing in the Scottish series so far this season. A big shout out and get well soon to our Captain Tom Arlott who broke 3 ribs after being lofted out of his buggy and hitting the ground before his kite. Everyone went home tired but happy; roll on Round 7 at St Andrews 28th-29th April.

Jack Elston >> Octane Review

Salut les gars, c’est Jack en direct du paradis de Nouvelle-Zélande et du cugé Ozone à Raglam. J’ai eu récemment la chance de rider avec l’aile de kite Landboarding la Octane. J’ai été immédioatement surprise de la stabilité et de la facilité à voler de l’Octane. Je me suis vraiment éclaté sur la plage de Raglam admirant la beauté des lieux.

Même dans le vent léger, la Octane réagit très bien avec une puissance constant dans la barre ce qui rend le ride facile. Le rider a juste à profiter de son ride et n’a pas trop à se soucier de son kite et de sa position dans les airs.

Si vous cherchez un kite pour apprendre aussi bien le landboarding que le buggy, ou si vous souhaitez avoir dans votre quiver un kite pour faire du crusing, l’Octane est le kite qu’il vous faut.

Il est vraiment parfait pour faire de grands runs de speed en buggy, la puissance constante vous emmenant sainement sur votre trajectoire sans le moindre effort. J’adore la simplicité de ce kite et je sais d’ores et déjà que la Octane va être ce déclic que recherchent de nombreux riders pour repousser leurs limites et améliorer leur niveau de ride.

Si vous avez la chance de tester ce kite, vous ne le regretterez pas.

Mon année 2011 de Kitelandboarding est une de mes meilleures années. Durant cette année, j’ai eu la chace de filmer une publicité de kite pour blackberry au Chili (Amérique du Sud) pour une semaien, et il faut dire que cela a plus été pour moi des vacances que du travail. En effet quoi de mieux que d’être payer pour faire ce que vous aimez.

J’ai aussi fimer un peu de kite pour la BBC et Sky3D, ce qui était assez excitant puisqu’il s’agissait d’une nouvelle experience pour moi de filmer du kite en 3D.

J’ai voyage dans pleins d’endroits et rencontrer de nombreuses personnes qui aiment aussi ce sport. Etre épauler par Ozone est extraordinaire. Avec des kites qui poussent la techologie à la performance, vous pouvez vous aussi continuer à pousser le sport avec de nouveaux tricks et avec chaque jour plus de confiance pour envoyer plus haut plus fort. Blockbuster Movie Back to Haunt You >> 3rd Dimension

Salut à tous ,

Nous sommes récemment descendus dans la cave et avons dépoussiérés pas mal de vieilles boards et prototypes de Kite , mais nous avons aussi retrouvé ” the 3rd Dimension” .

Cela avait été oublié depuis des années , même Indiana Jones ou Lara Croft ne l ont pas retrouvé ,et c’est un heureux hasard qui nous permet de vous le présenter aujourd’hui hui .
Ça devrait parait vieilli , voire dépassé , et pourtant c’est toujours une compilation d images de snowkite qui fait rêver . Témoin : La 3 eme dimension

A Vision of the future… Ash Garwood gives the low down of his time riding this year and what he wants to be doing for 2012…

With the 2011 season coming to a close and the 2012 season fast approaching I’ve begun to reflect on my year and the awesome times I have had.

This year I’ve been very busy just riding in general and training to push land boarding as much as I can, we have seen many tricks landed this year that previously many people thought land boarders would never be able to do. I myself have been kite surfing a lot this year progressing quickly in an effort to then bring these tricks on to the land as my vision for land boarding in the future is a unity of old school hooked in tricks and new school tricks. Now any fully fledged kite surfer will be looking at this and shaking his/her head thinking I’m nuts. But that is the attitude that will never see land boarding progress and I will laugh at anyone who doubts us.

I’m committed to pushing myself and pushing this beautiful side of kiting further beyond what can be perceived. There is a whole library of tricks thanks to kite surfers that we can do. Already on land riders have landed; slim chances, railey to blinds, kiteloop passes, back mobes and front mobes, well I want to bring that to the main stream and show the world that it can look good, that it can be done.

In 2012 with the help of the new 2012 Ozone C4’s I aim to push myself beyond limits and see land boarding go further than ever before. I want one day there to be a world championships at on shore grass spots all over the world, and with mine and your beliefs we can see it go there.

Hers is to another great year, big up to Ozone kites, Trampaboards and the British kite surfing association for helping me do what I love.
