Only a few days left before the kick off of the Ozone Snowkite Masters, and things are coming together well. Chasta flew back into France 2 weeks ago, and headed straight to his favourite spot at the col du Lautaret, where he has been kiting for the last week, pulling off some great tricks like jumping over the road and then instead of landing the jump at the other side, he puts in a double kite loop to cross back over the road!
Despite the lack of snow in Europe in general, the col had some snow last week, and the local guys have been out kiting every day. The 6 and 8metre rails have been set up, which should make for good viewing for all the spectators.
The majority of the riders are flying in on Monday in preparation for the warm-up day on Tuesday, and with riders turning up from as far a field as Tahiti , Norway and the USA, the event will have a truly international feel to it.
We have got some great tv and radio coverage lined up, with Europe2 airing a slot about the competition all next week, and Canal plus and a Russian tv crew flying in to get some footage of the event. For those of you with Canal plus, you can check out a programme on the Snowkite Masters on Wednesday 15 th December at 5pm . Skitime & Snowtime newspaper is now out in the all the ski shops, with a great feature on the Snowkite masters, which can only benefit our sport, and get it more into the mainstream.
For the après-kite, the Extreme bar has got some great DJ’s lined up, fresh from the `Mondial de snow et ski’ in the Deux Alpes where they had the crowds rocking, to ensure that the evenings carry on at the same pace as the day’s events. DJ Majid, Jaz & Jaggae and Gee will be throwing out some sweet tunes every night at the Extreme bar, with the final Red Bull party on the Saturday sure to go off big time.
