Yakuza GT rules again

Hi all…

Here’s a short News from the last races on Borkum for the German championships. The Yakuza GT ruled again!

We arrived on thursday morning with the first ferry being happy about the shining sun and nice winds. After some training rounds in the buggy we thought that the Yakuza was going really fast on the deep sand and we decided to go for a big kitesurf session all together before the day ends. The races started on friday with more or less the same conditions - strong winds for 6.8 and 5.5m Yak GT - and a big course with at least 10 turning marks. My first start was really bad and i was about 30 seconds behind the field. At first i thought that i should wipe out that race but in the end everything turned out good. The 6.8 was the perfect choice and this monster pulled me to 2nd place, a few metres before the finish line. What a run. For the 2nd race of the day i also took the 6.8m GT and it was as fast as i thought. It was a start to finish win. Briefly before the 3rd race of the day the wind picked up again and we took out our brand new 4.5m and 5.5m GTs. I went for the 5.5m and was able to win the race again. So far a great day for Ozone!

After a long party night the last two races took place on saturday morning with more or less no wind. Taking the 12m Yak GT on 15m lines was the perfect decision. I was able to go upwind like no one else and that was my advantage to win both races again.

With one 2nd and 4 first places I managed to win the overall ranking of this weekend and at least i could extend my lead for the German championship. Check www.gpa.de for all results, they should be online within the next days.

My teammates Lars, Fabi and Kim also did a good job but they had too much bad luck to get in the lead. Broken lines and traffic like hell on the course were not that easy to handle.

Until next time,
Malte Lutz
