Last Saturday and Sunday Surface Tension joined forces with Powerkiteshop at this super North Wales beach for the third round of the our Mini tour promoting the new 08 de-power range of kites.

Saturday started off with strong gusty winds and heavy rain, so the first people making a move were the kite surfers. This was a good omen..!  Just as soon as we started pumping up our kites the rain backed off enough to start getting the foil kites out and enjoy the expanse of smooth sand left behind by the receding tide.

It was not long before everyone was out kiting, there were buggies, boards, dirt surfers in line skates, kite bikes in fact pretty much any combination of equipment that you could think of that could be propelled by a kite.

It was really great meeting up with the many different people who came along, some we knew from old and others for the first time but everyone galvanised together with a common bond of kiting. John Eaton who runs Powerkiteshop is a real ‘charger’ and when he was not helping out people with their flying he was out blasting around all over the place pushing our kites to the limit.

Saturday night was great fun as we all headed off to a local Go Karting track where there was a bowling Alley and a bar. Sunday the wind had shifted and backed off a lot, the wind was coming from the land so was not so clean but with no rain in sight it was time again to enjoy the great beach conditions and fly as much as possible. The day just seemed to disappear as we demoed kite after kite. The light was starting to fail at about 4:30 and reluctantly everyone started packing away with aching bodies and smiling faces. It was great to meet up with such a variety of people and to share some time with them.
