Hi all, Before the weekend the forecast sucked! There were loads of rain expected. But luckily we chose  to drive to SPO. Saturday morning was a surprise, the sun was shining and there was no wind! After a short praying to the wind masters, we could go off!

The qualifying started on Saturday, I first went off with the Yakuza 12, but 5 minutes before the start the wind was still increasing, and the Yakuza was getting too much. At base camp I tried to pick up me 10m2 but the bridle was one big knot! (My own stupid fault) Then with some help I choose for the 8.6, the others in the field weren’t waiting for me and already took off. I had some fun in the race and even overtook the number 1, but I was still  a lap behind.
In the second race everything went well. The Yakuza is really nice upwind and also on downwind turns the kites forgives a lot of my mistakes
.
In the third qualifying race that day I made a really big mistake, in my enthusiast driving I was trying to make a nice downwind turn and tried to overtake the number one at that time, Mike Quasten, the turn wasn’t that nice and my kite ended up in Mike’s lines who was coming from the right. Sorry Mike!
Sunday started with the ‘loser rounds’. And after that the finals were on! Sunday the wind increased and I took off with the 6m2. I tried to make a different start then the others, but that was no good, I ended up in the back. I am still surprised about the action from the Yakuza between all the other kites. It is still running good behind other kites and easy to handle! I ended up on the 4th place. The final race I also took the 6m2. Arjen van der Tol (H42) was driving the Yakuza 7.3 and was unbeatable! He took off like a F1 racing car and kept on going. At some point speeds above 65km/h were possible. I had a struggle with Malte Lutz and Rens van Lier. They ended up in front of me, but Rens was so kind to put his kite in the ground approximately 50 meters before the finish line.

In the Master class the Yakuza ruled! Places 1, 2 and 3 were Yakuza drivers! I am looking forward for the www.eurocups.org at Graveline 20&21 October 2007!

Best Regards,

Jort Buwalda
