Hi… I just received the new Zephyr 17m during this wonderful autumn here in France.
Autumn means light wind conditions and nice colours in the landscapes.
Light wind? No problem, I’ve got the perfect tool.
Now, with my Zephyr, I’m kiting on the lake when the wind is blowing only six knots.
In this case, we’re using a “skim-board” which is only a wood board 10mm, size 130cmX55cm. No staps, no fins, and really fast on the flat water, perfect to make the Zephyr flying with really gentle breeze.
Do you know what? I kite, they look. I laugh, they cry.
But, in fact, Zephyr is really amazing when the wind increases around 12knots. I can fly high, tail-grab, make some basic rotations like 3.6 back or unhooked 3.6, no more, hey I’m 52 years old… Zephyr gets fast, perfect precision, smooth and really, really powerful.
I don’t need to wait for 20-25 knots any more.
Here, on this lake in the Alps, the thermal is blowing every day, but mostly 12 to 15 knots. Not so often anymore.
So the Zephyr is now my only kite here, for more than 9 days per 10 with wind.
It’s got a very large depower, like the Edge for example, I’ve been kiting here already with 20 knots last week, using my 46cm large board, super quiet and relax.
I know that with my 38cm large board I can stay rocking until 25 knots with complete safety for sure.
My friends were wondering how I will relaunch the 17m Zephyr. They didn’t believe their eyes when I slammed an unhooked 7.2 and crashed the Zephyr on the lake. Just pulling a brake-line, Zephyr got on its ear and went back to the sky in less than 3 seconds. Awesome !!!
Well, look at the video, sorry I make only the same old 3.6 back, and don’t laugh at my ugly spoken english…
Zephyr is the real good kite for the fat guys like me with my 88 kgs.
I’m getting super motivated for some autumn sessions, 12 knots bring me the same pleasure than 25 knots with my other Ozone kites.
PS : For sale, Edge 13m, very good kite, make a bargain !!!
Cheers.
