Travelstory to Mauritius

Raymond our manager for the Netherlands sent us this news from his latest holiday, read on for his news >>
“We (the 4 of us) went for a 2 weeks trip down at the pretty island Mauritius, right in front of South Africa. I have been dreaming to go there since I started with kiteboarding. As a lack of spare time we always travel abroad in our cold and rainy winter period (we don’t have any snow here). With the Mauritian wind conditions supposed to be good and predictable in our Summer period, I thought Mauritius would never happen till I was old and crumpy. It is good that Mirjam and Lara did some excellent research, found out that October should be still good, with a reasonable chance for wind and THEN PERSUADE us (Chiel and me) to book the damn ticket…….and I can tell you it was worth every penny…
From day one the wind was blowing with an average of 30 knots, crystal blue flat water and different reef breaks where we could choose from….small, big, bigger till the unbelievable fast breaking wave at the reef ONE EYE. This reef is internationally known as really big, fast, shallow and sharp reef. I’ve been riding one-eye (on a big day)….but to be honest, just straight down the line, with my heart bouncing in my throat, didn’t dare to look back over my shoulder….what I did it anyway, but not telling you what happened.
Mauritius is a perfect place for every level of riding or style. The beaches are perhaps a bit small but plenty of space on the water. The island is green and has so many beautiful natures to see or hike in. The local people are really happy, friendly and enjoying life!! The attitude on the beaches is mellow and everyone is mixing: the French, Italians, Germans, the Dutchies and the ultra relaxed Franz Olry….. damn this man is so friendly, with him around things cannot go more mellower.
For those who think Mauritius is an expensive place to go to…….it is….can’t change the airline rates. However staying at the Pik Pik appartments….will cut your costs dramatically….and you still are staying in a really nice and friendly hotel. More info send an email to our local friend Aatisch Devason (daatish@yahoo.com)
Oh yeah before I forget, it was good to see a lot of happy Ozone riders down there…..it is almost like seeing your family from a distance…you want to wave, shout…what’s up? It is good he? we are so lucky…..what a life….
Speak to you soon.
Raymond (grtzz from all of us, Chiel, Mirjam and Lara)
