Hi everyone,
We are just back home from a great week at www.mondial-du-vent.com in Leucate France which was also the PKRA stop from Saturday to Tuesday. We had Lex and Kari precipitating in the competition … for their words read on further down. Big thanks to John from http://www.adrenaline-kitesurf.com and importer for Ozone Kites in France hosted us in his apartment and made us feel as home in Leucate.
When there was wind it was always strong and unusual for Leucate we had lots days with south winds. Still it was gusty and strong most of the days and we were riding 11 – 5m kites. The wind direction brought us some nice swell so ripping the waves on the 5m SportII was such a laugh the other day. This kite is just perfect for the waves. Fast but precise and you can always fell were it is without watching it.
Leucate offers strong kitesurfing conditions with the Tramontana coming offshore down the mountains most of the time. So usually no bigger kite than 9m is needed there. It is also perfect for any kind of landkiting. The beach of La Fraqui is well known for its hard packed surface that allows you to even ride a skateboard on. We also enjoyed some fun days in the Buggy and Mountainboard blasting some serious speed. Unfortunately a big rain flooded the beach by mid of the week and it did not manage to try out before the end of the event.
If you ever fancy a great event week in the early season in great atmosphere meeting all the stars of the kiteboard and windsurf scene you should make it to the Mondial du Vent next year!

France PKRA 08I just came back home from France Leucate and it was the 2nd round in the PKRA. It was a lot of girls and guys how signed up for the competition and booth had to go true the trails.
Lex Dekker and me made the trails and went in the main event. The wind was strong, gusty and it was cross-offshore. We pumped kites from 5m to 9m. Lex did his first heat but did not pas and he was ready for the double.
My first heat was against Audery Meyer and I was not really happy to meet here. After 7min fighting with the wind, I past that heat and was ready for the next one. I was now against Bruna Kajiya from Brazil. Bruna is the 2 best girl in the world, it was good training for me and I was ready for the double together with Lex.
The girls final was against Bruna and Gisela, like always. It was a close heat; Bruna did more power and more style then Gisela and was the winner in this final.
For the guys Aaron Hadlow and Kevin Langeree was again meeting in the final. This time it was Kevin how made the best heat. He landed a front mobe to blind, blind juge 3, front mobe, non- inverten slim.
In the double Lex did a good heat but did not pas. I was against Jo Wilson from UK. I was really happy with my heat and I pas. My first time winning against Jo.
In my next heat I was up against Anja Grzelinska I did a good heat and was happy with my riding, but she past, next time Anja… !!!
In the final Gisella put up a show and made two really good heats. She was not happy with here performance the other day, but this day she was the best and the winner of the PKRA France.
Kevin did again a good heat and went home to Holland as the winner of PKRA France. He did some good moves like front mobe 7, KGB, Front mobe, Back mobe.
Now I’m at home in Norway, but in one week I will go back to France with my winter Jacket.
Cheers Kari
