“After a few days in Sardinia near Porto Pollo shooting the Ozone kite Experience with Ozone, National Geographic and LandRover, I have had the realization that Sardinia is an Incredible place. Here with Chicco del Crocce an Ozone rider and kite school owner and Stefano from Ozone Italia we have traveled around the north coast for the last few days with wind between 15-35 knots, and some incredible waves.
At Marina della Rossa, we found 4 meter waves and 30+ knots. All were out on 5 meter kites, and respect has to be shown to Chicco who whilst following him with the camera I stopped shooting for the first wave as it was so huge and so knarly it left me with little to say and I missed the shot.
Easily triple over head, and it almost wiped him out. He emerged from a huge foam ball and then rode back out for another.
The Sardinia Kite Experience is all about riders and exploration of the coast here, all levels of riders are represented and all have found something they like and some amazing large beaches and flat water, as well as large waves. Yesterday we were near Badesi, which gave us flat water lagoons and 1-2 meter waves off the beach. Most of the kiter’s were just enjoying the atmosphere, and riding together and for themselves, it is clear Stefano has created an atmosphere that reflects the ethos of Ozone.
National geographic has been with us as we have been searching and shown what kiting is all about with Chicco taking them through the whole experience from beginner to expert. With support from Ozone, Jeep and LandRover we have managed in just a few days to unlock some of the potential of the Island, with more to come in the next few days…” Pascal
