We had epic conditions today, from 15/17 knots to extreme white water gusts (recorded at 35 knots at the airport but stronger at the beach). You could see the water boiling behind you, it was mental. I got ripped off my board twice with such force I left it a good 50m away once I stopped bouncing. Emile, my dutch friend was also out on the ‘08 9m Sport and was in the same boat. Insane day. Clear blue skies, not a stormy day, and the only way of telling what was coming was to keep an eye on the beach and the sea for the coming wind chaos.
The 9m Sport + I LOVE! It took me a while to get into it due to the conditions but once I got it I was flying higher then I have ever been and going up wind so nicely, the waves were big and I kitelooped as I rode them, a very different turn to the ’08s and took a bit of dialing but once in the zone, HUGE GRINS! I took off the safety rope through the bar and the bar works so well.
Defiantly not the gust muncher of old or the ladies choice. I felt it was pushing me to KITE… not just cruise, and by the end of the day I was doing huge slow double back loops off the top of big waves and really enjoying the added power being there. I went on the ‘08 for a bit and liked the fact that if I got over powered in the gust or jump then I could turn it off but after a while I wanted the ‘09 back.
I thought of one thing, David (’08 Ozone designer) is like me and an intermediate kiter so designed a wicked kite that lets you bail but doesn’t push you, it lets you learn lots though. But the new ‘09 kite is much more of a crazy motorbike riding loons creation (’09 Ozone designer, Robbie guilty as charged)! Full on, Full fun, pushing it to the limit, thanks, most epic day. I know my focused riders will love it!

Hey Ozone!I just received my 2009, 11m and 9 m Sport +! Having read a few excellent reviews I can’t wait to try them myself. I admit to a certain amount of apprehension as I loved my ‘08 Ozone kites. The bar pressure was a great feature as was the fast turning. I will not get rid of them till until I try my new ones but from all reports I will be saying goodbye to my old friends and making new ones quickly with the ‘09 line.
Like a kid at christmas I have already opened and looked at my new kite despite there being no wind for the next few days at my local sites. Construction, as always, was faultless; its what you expect from a manufacture who started in the business making superior paragliders. So many kite companies are using cheap China rip-off materials; this is not the case with Ozone who use the best materials and make the kites to order right there in their own Vietnam factory. Examining these kites you realize they are built for durability as well as performance.
The kites now come with back line trimmers to make adjustments for more or less bar pressure. In the kite bag a good addition is the removable Velcro bag that comes with all sorts of goodies. Far superior than the old cellophane bag with the repair kit, manual and key ring, the ‘09 kites also come with spare leader lines and spare amsteel through the bar flag out…all spares. What other kite manufacturer thinks of these things?
Ozone makes sure you are properly equipped to ride and not just sit on the side wishing you were. Not only do the kites come with extra parts you might need, their spares and service department are first rate with fast, cheap, and very reliable delivery of whatever you might be lacking. My friend flying his new kite by another company had to wait for three long weeks for his flag out line that wore after only 20 sessions. I won’t settle for anything less than the Ozone Guarantee!

We we’re lucky to recieve the first 09 Instincts 1st week in Jan. The fourth generation of the Instinct series is definately something special! Where to start to give a good impression? People who have been riding Instincts the last couple of years for sure have noticed that build in Instinct feeling so the big question was does it have that on 4 lines? The answer is YES, Its still there 4 lines, easy and clean set up and the same feeling, jippie!
First one I tried was the 9m Sport +, lots of changes this year and the graphics look sick .The kite itself is super clean and rigid! So for the Sport + the bar feeling is way better now ,always good feel where the kite is and progressive feedback on the bar! Its even more easy to fly this year with I think a big + is the unhooked feeling! Not much pull on the bar anymore if you want to try newschool tricks. It has more power wich is easily controlable sheeting in and out.. the on and off feeling is gone. I have been riding the 11m most days now and its insane ! I reckon it has 15% more hangtime than previous models wich gives you enough time to do your tricks and land them !
The Light XC is a surpise also. No more flapping, turns on a dime and has plenty power! The kite looks super clean in the air and is fast with that same prgressive feeling on the bar. I’m looking forward getting this on out in the waves!
The Edge 11m … just took it out for a 15 min try! The jumps are even a bit longer and floatier than before! It’s still a fast flying kite with the same clean design as the Light and Sport . We are still waiting for one of those big wind days to take it out and see what extreme jumping potential it has this year !
Lots of people try the kites here and they all come back of the water with a big smile. Andre the russian about the 11m Edge: “This kite I like , very jump high and long” So for us in Vietnam we are all very stoked and pleased to ride the new kites ,easy is the word this year.

I was amazed in the change to the light , higher aspect and redesigned it has loads of power and is great on the waves. Excelent kite… I love it! Last year was a small engine wit turbo. This feels like a V8, thicker neoprene on the clips to.. POPing it was unreal! Great light wind, low end power. But when the wind came and you can feel how much more stable it is. And how the power just increases gradually without any surges of power.. In gusts it just continues to pull, doesn’t move an inch!

I love your company, your attitude, integrity and gear is awesome. I have a 07 Light 7m and my partner has the 07 light 9m and soon she will have the Light XC 7m. I had the privilege of trying Torrins 09 7m Sport last week. It was outstanding!
I love the 4 lines! The speed and feel was quite similar to my XXX but the bar pressure was heaps nicer. Kiteloops were insane… i had never been higher than the kite before… it was a bizarre experience, kite silhouetted against the sunset, looping up around then almost skimming the orange/pink water.
It unhooked so nicely, no back stalling, great chickenloop to hook back in easily and easy relaunch. The colours are perfect, everything about looks and feels top of the line. GOOD STUFF! I wish you all the best for this season and i hope you sell loads of them : )
