“On Saturday the 10th of January we had a hangtime comp news for all the people who wanted to enter by paying 10 dollars (Organised by Kitesurfcenter Windchimes, thanks for the free beer)
14 people entered,….Started at around 15.30 when the wind is on it strongest here in Mui Ne. I knew the wind was pretty strong so I used the 11m Edge which is a sweet kite in powered up conditions like these ( wind
going from 18 to 26 knots)..
With the Edge you go soo high and you stay up for a long time and its real easy to loop when you come down so you will get some extra time in the air…..so sweet.
Windchimes organized a single elimination comp with 2 people in one heat which was quit nice cause normally hang time is only 3 jumps and the longest counts. First 2 heats I hit around 5.9 seconds and in the semi final it was a sweet 6.5 seconds. In the Semi final I was against Skatoor on the new Ozone Sport 13m not easy to beat cause he is the hang time master!
Came to the beach after the round to learn that I’d made the final !!
By the time our final heat was set the wind was quit gusty and went down a bit ( was already late) but I could still manage to out jump my German opponent called Olivier on a Vegas 12mI’m Dutch so you can understand I had to win !!!
Was a really nice day and I ended up with 140 dollar first prize … and a lot of free beer!
