Ozone Italia Race Team >> Welcome to the Machine
Esta noticia todavía no está traducida, pero pronto lo estará. Gracias por tu paciencia. Maria Piscopo and Andrea Beverino run for Podium in the first event of Italian Kitesurfing Championship Race in Ancona
I have recently been in Ancona, Sunset Beach, with Riccardo Nobile (my husband ), Ozone rider for Course Racing too, for the first stop of the Italian Course Racing Cup 2011.
This has been our first competition with the Ozone family, the team this year is numerous and it has been really fun to spend Easter with them.
The event started up with low wind (9-10 knots), but for just 1 hour…so we started with the first course race using the biggest kites we had (I chose the Edge 15m and Ric chose 17m Zephyr, perfect for light wind), but we didn’t have enough time to finish it… so we ended swimming to the beach Ooops
During the second day the sunny weather let the wind come out a little bit stronger, so we sailed three course races with 9-11 knots. My personal scores among the girls for the day were 3-2-3…but the Ozone mens team sailed better than me (Riccardo’s scores were 7-9-13). These results made me more aggressive and determined to win the following race the next day or at least to do my best.
Day 3 was really stressful for me, but it ended successfully nonetheless. In the first course race I had a really good run, and I had a good position among both girls (1st) and men…but unfortunately, near to the arrival, I broke a fin and it became really hard to control the board, so 4 riders had passed me. I was forced to return to the beach and to change the board, but I didn’t have enough time before the following race so I started at the back of the pack, getting a bad position.
So I showed up to the next start with a knife between the teeth. My goal was to sail and win the third race to improve my overall score…but I was dogged by bad luck. A rider twisted his kite with mine at the windward mark, and I had no chance to lift it up in time, so I had to file for redress (which I was granted)…..Unfortunate race. Greater was the competition sailed by Ric J.
Finally I finished the event in 2nd place, an this represents a wonderful result for me, considering the unlucky race…. I know that I am able to do better …
I couldn’t be more happy with how the 15m Edge is performing, and Riccardo with the 17m Zephyr. The kites have such a broad range that it’s hard to make the wrong decision of which kite to use with light wind. Thanks to Ozone for these amazing kites.
The Ozone team had a really good result:
4th place Beverino Andrea
7th place Fumini Riccardo (1st place Gran Master)
10th place Nobile Riccardo (3rd place Master)
15th place Santostefano Gionvanni
19th place Gigli Stefano
22nd place Tonon Enrico
Good job guys
And see you next time in May at Oristano (Sardinia-Italy)
