Hello everyone,
Finally it’s winter now in the south hemisphere, and there’s wind all around the south pacific. Here in Moorea we finally got some strong wind for 3 weeks now, and some pretty big fat waves coming from New Zealand. As you hopefully read in last news of Tam, he scored some big waves in Teahupoo with Tim Mc Kenna. He did the good choice that day, it’s the only place where you can still shoot when it’s big like this.
I decided to stay in front of the house, cause it’s easier, but the pass was closing out on sun set, so no chance to take any pictures from this session. Anyway I rode some of the biggest waves of my life, good wind with 11m edge and 5meters + waves. Then after a crazy week the wind switch to the north shore, 30 knots for a week, I picked up two guys from the Lautaret crew, Johan and Juju.
That was funny to see two good friends coming from France totally fresh and totally white, ready to be eaten by the mosquitoes. They had two really good days, full speed with 9m sport.
But the last days the wind came back to the south shore, and Johan followed me to Haapiti pass, with some pretty decent waves, more than big enough for him. After few waves, he was really getting the hang of it. Too bad for him, he released the safety by mistake and lost his kite. By the time I realised that, the kite was being eaten by the big fat right wave on the other side of the pass, no chance that this kite can survive. So I gave him my fins than I carried in my back bag, so it’s easier to swim cause of the current, then I towed him to the shore, he jumped straight to the pass again ,on a kayak to grab his dead kite. Wouaaaa what a crazy session.
Today no wind but me and my stuff are ready for the session tomorrow, if mother nature decide to push a bit more wind than today. If not, I should pack my big bag for the next trip in New Zealand, and join Matt and Hugh for the snowkite camps, youuuppiiii!!!
Check out my video
Have a good wind and see ya soon for more news on the snow.
