It looks easy, but I can tell you it is not. Wow, there is so much you have to think about when you are out there trying to catch a wave. And one thing that I have learned, the same wave is not coming twice.

Before, I thought that waves always were in my way when I was freestyle training. Now however, I think it is so much fun trying to ride them! With a surfboard, of course.

I have now been kiting in the waves for some days. I can tell you that it is super fun, but not easy. I am swallowing a lot of water. To go for it 98% is not good enough. You have to be focused and go 100% all of the time. If not you will be inside the wave like a washing machine.

I am only in the small waves, but still I have never been swearing so much in my whole life as I have done the last few days. I have been learning jibing (“turning” the way I call it) and riding the wave. It puts my patience to the test! Either I am surfing away from the wave or I am in the wave… board less. It is really hard, but after that one turn in the wave it gives you an incredible feeling and makes you want to try more. The waves are never the same and you have to be focused at all times.

There’s only one thing to do… Go for it.
