Kitesailing is a new sport which is developing around the world. In Kitesailing, a kite is used to power a boat instead of a conventional sail. We are two Aerospace Engineering students who are graduating on the design of a Kitesailing system for a catamaran. Together with Ozone and the Delft University of Technology, we are adapting the design of kites for Kitesailing. For our graduation project we started the Airplay Kitesailing Initiative to make Kitesailing accessible for everyone.

A few months ago, we started an extensive test program to test kites on a catamaran on the North Sea in Holland. The results are great! Kitesailing is a real team sport and very exciting! The Ozone kites handle themselves really well connected to the boat and because of the weight and shape of the boat, you can fly the kite very fast, creating lots of power! We’re having a great time testing modifications on the controls and a lot of people already joined out on the water.
