Catching Up With Andy Yates
What an epic summer it was. Last year, after completing my first year of medical studies, I returned home and was treated to an amazing summer of wind, flat water, raging outgoing tides, and all ’round good times. Kicking off the summer was my Storm session, which was captured by Glen Bowden and released a few weeks later. Hopefully you’ve all seen that; Glen put it together really well and captured the essence of what made that day just so crazy.
In the weeks following, the Sunshine Coast was treated to some epic and consistent wind. On the windy days I was riding at Caloundra Rivermouth and on the light days I was learning to paraglide…. more on that later..
So yeah, myself and Glen Bowden decided to put together a video on what I have been doing lately. Although I have been super busy in the last few years, we felt that this was not conveyed to everyone out there. So we started filming and put together an interview to go with it. We’re stoked with the finished product and I have just heard from Glen that it will be distributed by a London based Production company called Boulder Creek International in a program called ‘Wild Spirits’. This is one of the world’s longest running extreme/alternative sports shows, going out in over 95 countries, on many major networks (BBC, Setanta, Foxtel etc.). We’re stoked about this!!
Anyway, we hope you like the video. Stay tuned for more in the pipeline.
Regarding the kites and further to my initial thoughts, the last few months have allowed me to really get in tune with the C4. After my many years of kiting, I know exactly what I want in a kite, and the C4 is just that.
