Marek 'Murphy' Zach on the Edge

While I was training in Egypt I had a chance to put my hands on the new Ozone EDGE. With the upcoming Olympics just around the corner and an opportunity to qualify I got down to race training. At KiteVillage Hamata they have a board which I sometimes use. I always believed that when opportunity knocks you come runnin’ so I took the board and the crisp new EDGE for a spin.

Since then, every morning, before starting lessons with my kite students, I had a 45minute session to practice transitions in a little pool that was the only place deep enough at that time. Getting used to the board, and finding the proper position took me a while but I didn’t even have to touch the kite to know that it’s a mean racing machine.

Each day I found better positions for the kite, the board and for myself. At the end of the week downwind transitions were at 95% and upwind at 60%. What’s more I learned to place the EDGE in the wind window in such a way that just before the upwind transition I could go head on against the wind, and when I thought I was about to stop the kite kept pulling me even further upwind. You don’t need to have experience with racing kites to know that this kite moves super comfortably upwind.

I strongly recommend You try it!
