Ozone riders take lions share of podiums at the 2012 Racing World Championships in Cagliari, Italy

A massive congratulations to all riders who competed at the Racing World Championships in Italy last week, especially to Johnny Heineken and Erika Heineken for becoming Male and Female World Champions for 2012!

Adam Koch and Riccardo Leccese were hard on Johnny’s heels all week, it was amazing racing to watch. Ozones owner Matt Taggart was also racing and had some great results including a 2nd place in day two races, so a huge congratulations to him too.

The format of the medal races really put pressure on Johnny & Erika on the last day. After eleven races Johnny had eleven bullets (1st) yet went into the two final races with one point ahead of Adam, this format was very controversial and heaped the pressure on Johnny. The same was true for Erika having also dominated the female event. It’s testament to their skill and nerve that they went out on the last day and took the World Titles Male & Female…brother and sister.

It was incredible how many countries were represented at the worlds, showing how Kite Racing is becoming wide spread and popular. There was also a noticeable presence of RSX windsurfers, some looking on and some racing. Dorian van Rijsselberghe, the Olympic 2012 Gold medalist from Holland, was there riding Ozone in his first ever Kite Race competition.

The event was a huge success even though the logistics seemed crazy with 195 competitors, our thanks and respect goes out to all the organisation who brought this event together.

We want to make it easy for everybody to have the possibility to be as fast and competitive as these top racers. What they’ve got, you can have. The Edge when coupled with the Race Control System and a set of Race Flying Lines is the ultimate performance combination, and is exactly what our team riders are racing and winning with.

Thanks again to all the Ozone Team and all the Ozone riders who were in Cagliari, you proved to be amazing on the race course and a lot of fun on the beach too.

Cheers
Team Ozone
