Kiting the Sahara
This spring we looked for a really different kitetrip destination to try our new 2009 Ozones. The world’s biggest desert, the Sahara! In fact, the Alizee wind blows permanently on the 1500 km long desertic coasts of the Atlantic Ocean and it’s huge lagoons.
The big versatility of our kites Ozone allowed the whole family to ride happily on the generous waves lining the desert. Weird was the sensation to be in endless lagoons and to land on virgin sandy beaches in the middle of nothing with the only witness, some local fishermen who discovered our sport, which they never have seen before.
For this type of navigation we need simple and safe material. With the very easy relaunch of our Ozones we could escape very quickly from some difficult situation. Rotations like back and frontloops are much clearer now with the new 4-lines bar !
The show of our kids, Baptiste and Loanah, sending a large number of tricks, attracted every time the neighbouring fishermen, and allowed us to make contact with these very generous Bedoins. In the evening it was with big pleasure that we accepted their invitation to share their meal. To the menu: couscous or tajine.
We could take advantage of a day without wind to bring along our Ozone paragliders and fly above the dunes and the lagoon. What a wonderful view !
Now we are back home, on the very green Reunion Island, which is so different to the Sahara !
Cheers
Sandy, Cyril, Baptiste and Loanah
