Kari News - 3rd in the Wave Masters
My best result ever! 3rd place in the Wave Masters, Kiteboard Pro World Tour 2008!
The world cup is finally over. It’s been a long and exciting season travelling the World with the KPWT http://www.kiteboardpro.com and I am happy to say, it’s all wrapped up for this year. Overall I finished in 3rd position for the wave riding competition. I am super happy about this result as the last months I have been training everyday and working to get better at this discipline.
Getting 3rd was not easy as I began the competition in about 3 meter waves competing against Kristin Boese who won the wave master title last year. I was a bit anxious prior to the heat, but once it started the nerves disappeared and I prevailed over Kristin. After the success of the first heat in the second part I was up against Kirsty Jones who was leading the wave masters in the current World Tour. I did my best but in the end the judges thought Kirsty did slightly better. The judges did not allow us to do the double, so I was denied the chance to ride against Anja who was awarded 2nd. Of course I was a bit sad after a couple of great runs, but I had still managed to land an impressive 3rd in the World Tour, Morocco. It was great fun taking part in the competition and I actually enjoy waves a lot. Morocco is one of the best spots I been to for wave riding and I will be sure to go back and train there before competing again next year.
Testament to the versatility of my Ozone Edges II & Sports II I also won 3rd place overall in the racing though for next year I will start looking to find a better race board and work on the technical side of this event.
I am now heading home to Stavanger and looking forward to this winter’s snow kiting. I hope to see you all at Haugastøl this year.
Cheers Kari - www.kariland.com
